Taco Tuesday - Back to School Soon

T is for: 
Time. Where does it go? Summer is almost over and my kids go back to school next week. This is not a normal back to school year, my youngest will be a junior and my oldest will be a senior! I already got teary eyed just seeing the form for her high school diploma. I will be a wreck at graduation :(

A is for:
The Avengers. Less than a month until the DVD comes out! Plus, it should be hitting the cheap theatre soon and I'll be seeing there at least once.

C is for:
Car trouble. It seems like I always have something going on. We just fixed a coolant leak last week, and while I know there are other issues right now, nothing else is in immediate need.

O is for:
Optimism. I am hoping that the kids have a great year at school, they both seem set on getting done the things that need to be done. I am hopeful that they stick with that!

TACO Tuesday

Kelly, over at Dysfunctionally Functional, does a TACO Tuesday, and I decided to play along this week.

"T" is for:
Tonight. I am looking forward to it. I'm going to go out for dinner and hang out with some friends.

"A" is for:
The Avengers. I really want to see the movie again! I'm not sure if it will happen before it goes to the cheap theatre or not, but either way, I will eventually own and watch the hell out of that dvd.

"C" is for:
Chocolate cupcakes. I just made a batch of them today, they will be iced with peanut butter buttercream. And I will do my best to not eat them all.


"O" is for:
Oh. As in: Oh, why do I keep baking tasty things? I love to bake and unfortunately with that goes the fact that I love to eat. lol

I may turn my cupcakes into these..

Noah

Have you heard of Noah? I just heard of him yesterday, but I am so glad that I did. This guy is AMAZING!

I'm posting his LMFAO cover of "Sexy and I know It" because, well, it's freaking amazing, and it's the one that's getting him loads of attention. My lucky day!

I was putting the mother's day cards that I made into envelopes this morning, and gave myself a paper cut on my lip. It hurts. I was thinking to myself, this just is not going to be my day..and then I checked my email.

There was a message from Angie, over at Eclectic Recipes, letting me know that I was the winner of a 7 quart KitchenAid stand mixer!! I had to go to her site to double check, because I'm really that unlucky. lol!

Thursday 13 - Kitchen Edition

!3 random things related to baking, my kitchen, and myself.

1. Making brownies while home alone is the best! 
2. There's no one else here to lick the bowl ; )
3. I am slightly addicted to making salted caramel
4. I am also addicted to eating salted caramel
5. While I made salted caramel brownies this morning, there was someone in my sink
6. That someone was Tatsu, one of my bearded dragons.
7. I don't really mind doing the dishes
8. They get done by hand, we don't have a dishwasher
9. Well, we do, but we have never hooked it up
10. I don't really care to have it hooked up
11. It makes a great spot for storing pots and pans
12. This morning I also made coconut milk for my Sorta 'Poo
13. I also mixed up some Nutmeg Exfoliator

Monday Musings

• I wanted to see The Avengers again, this weekend, but the showings that I wanted to see were sold out.
• I guess I'll go another time, but I need to make sure that I do, because I really want to see it again.
• I made some "Almond Joy" friendship bread today, it turned out pretty tasty
• I have been on a serious music kick lately
• Normally when I'm alone all day, it's quiet in here
• Not anymore, loud music almost all day
• Plus, I spent a lot of yesterday evening with my ipod and earbuds 
• I'm boring, and have nothing else to say..

Thursday 13 - dislike

I don't like it...

1. waking up with a headache 
2. hot and humid days
3. wearing shorts - it almost never happens
4. being told how to do something - I don't take instruction well. lol
5. falling asleep while watching something that I want to see - so I try not to lie down
6. when someone else gets to the bathroom just before I get there - having only one bathroom sucks
7. when I finish an amazing book - I feel like I've lost friends
8. when I forget to bring a book with me - I'm early to a fault, so a book helps time pass
9. forgetting to bring my water bottle - it goes everywhere I go, these days
10. running out of ibuprofen
11. when we are supposed to get a thunderstorm and it misses completely
12. the neighbor's yippy dogs at 5am
13. my dvd player - it's acting wonky

Grilled Cheese Week, Day 7

Today was the last day of Grilled Cheese Week!

We had a variety of leftover cheeses and breads to choose from, 

so it was a leftover sort of night to end the week.

this one sort of had a mind of it's own, a little dark and falling apart..

All in all, this week was a hit with the family! There was talk of an annual Grilled Cheese week, with kids coming back after they are older and moved out! lol

The over all #1 grilled cheese, for everyone, was the Grilled C.A.T. 

Then the favorites are all over the place, so we'll go with mine ; )

My #2 is the Tomato, basil, and Fontina. (two others agreed with me on this one)

#3 Bacon BBQ

#4 Hawaiian (this was a #2 for one of the girls)

#5 Pizza

#6 Cream cheese & cheddar (this one came in last with all of us, which is funny, because I think it got the most repins on Pinterest and comments on my facebook page)

Yes, we did have 7 days, but I didn't count today's leftover style in the rankings.

Monday Musings

• Today, I went on a field trip to a dairy farm, with a friend and her sons.
• I LOVE cows, they are so beautiful.
• I got to bottle feed a baby cow!
• I also got lots of slimy cow kisses on my hands
• You may see photos for WW, but they won't be great since they were cell phone shots
• Today is the last day of Grilled Cheese Week
• Surprisingly, I'm going to miss it.
• It was fun trying different things, yet having them be similar!
• I feel a headache coming on, so I think I'll go refill my water bottle
• I'll be back shortly with the Grilled Cheese Week wrap up

Grilled Cheese Week, Day 6

It's day 6 of Grilled Cheese Week, and surprisingly, no on is tired of it yet.

During dinner, I heard the words "After Grilled Cheese Week is over, we will not be as happy with a normal grilled cheese" The funny thing is, I jokingly said we should end with one. 

Processed American cheese on cheap white bread. 

It won't be quite that, but unfortunately it won't be anything exotic either. It may be whatever leftover cheeses we have in the fridge, on whatever leftover bread there is ; )

Today we had Fontina cheese, with tomatoes, and basil, on ciabatta bread.

I just love ciabatta!

This one ranked pretty high with most of us!

Grilled Cheese Week, Day 5

Welcome to Day 5 of grilled Cheese Week!

Today was a Bacon BBQ grilled cheese.

This one featured  barbecue sauce, cheddar cheese, and bacon, on Italian bread.

It was all sorts of tasty!

Grilled Cheese Week, Day 4

Here we are, on Day 4 of Grilled Cheese Week.

Because I can not seem to go a whole week without pizza in some form or another..
Pizza grilled cheese was dinner tonight. The kids wanted to use the whole wheat sandwich thins that were sitting on they counter. Why? Because they're round, like a pizza, of course.

Mozzarella cheese, pizza sauce, and pepperoni went on these. 

They turned out really good!
